Al Ahly appoint Vingada as a coach
Vingada takes up the job with Africa's most successful club
Egyptian club Al Ahly have appointed Portuguese Nelo Vingada as coach on a two-year contract.
The six-time African champions made the announcement on Ahly TV on Friday.
Vingada, 56, was coach of Jordan's national team and has previously been in charge of Ahly's Cairo rivals Zamalek.
Manuel Jose, who led Ahly to four African Champions League titles, left the club last month to become Angola coach.
"Vingada has been chosen as the new coach because he is familiar with local soccer here," Ahly team coordinator Hady Khashaba told Ahly TV.
"He coached in Egypt before and had other stints in Arab countries."
Vingada was coach of Saudi Arabia in 1996 and 1997 and he has also been in charge of Egypt's under-23 team.
Ahly did not provide any financial details of the deal to bring Vingada back to Egypt.
