Arusha Gymkhana Club’s ace golfer Nuru Mollel posted a two rounds
score of 73, 72 to win this year’s edition of Morogoro Open in Morogoro
yesterday.
The plus two handicapper was impressive right from the opening
round to post one over par before going even in yesterday’s final round
to beat Moshi Club’s Frank roman to the runners-up position.
Roman returned 74 and 75 for a total five over par 149.
Victory Joseph was third overall but won the junior category. In
professional category Geoffrey Leverian excelled with an impressive 72,
73 to beat Fadhyl Nkya. Nkya posted opening round score of 79 before
going even in the final round.
The tournament attracted big number of entries with amateurs and professionals that flocked the nine-hole Morogoro Club course.
The tournament is the first in the Tanzania Golf Union’s calendar and Mollel has taken the lead in the order of merit series.
For over a decade now the tournament has been under sponsorship of Cargostars Limited.
