WASHINGTON (AFP) – US President Barack Obama met Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete on Thursday, in his latest attempt to engage Muslim leaders ahead of major speech to the Islamic world in Egypt next month. Obama hosted private talks in the Oval Office which did not include a photo-op, and Kikwete left the White House without talking to reporters. Before the meeting, Obama's spokesman Robert Gibbs said the two leaders would discuss regional security and terrorism. "I think regional concerns like economic development and health will also be on the agenda," Gibbs said. "I think the president obviously will continue his outreach in the lead-up to his speech in Cairo with continued outreach to elected Muslim leaders like the president." Obama, who traces part of his ancestry to Kenya, will also concentrate on sub-Saharan Africa during a stop in Ghana in July, but has not yet fleshed out his administration's policy towards the continent in detail
